Alternate Dispute Resolution provides several alternatives to suing someone. These processes are typically shorter, cheaper, and more confidential than if the case were going to court. Parties can choose to negotiate, mediate or arbitrate.  Negotiations happen directly between the two parties. In mediation, both parties state their issues to a mediator, who then assists in the communication and resolution process. Parties can also choose arbitration, which is a private hearing. Arbitration utilizes private judges, also known as arbitrators.
